Bridging the Gap: Mental Health in the Civilian World
Transitioning out of the military is tough—but nobody tells you how tough it's really going to be. One day you're in a unit with structure, brotherhood, and purpose. The next, you're standing in a warehouse with steel toe boots on, trying to survive a 12-hour shift and pretending everything is fine.

I've lived with physical disabilities, PTSD, and the silent pressure of having to look "okay" on the outside. I've worked in civilian companies that didn’t understand my disability or mental health needs—and I’ve had to fight for my rights under the ADA, even when it meant standing alone.

This keynote addresses mental health in the civilian workforce. I break down how invisible disabilities show up in veterans, how employers and co-workers can support those with trauma, and why it’s time to stop assuming “fine” means someone isn’t struggling. I share what it means to leave a job to protect your mental health—and how we can build better workplaces for all.

Whether you're an HR leader, business owner, educator, or veteran advocate, this talk will leave your audience with deeper understanding and practical ways to support mental wellness in everyday life.
